Newspapers & multimedia

The Library subscribes to some online newspapers

LexisLibrary Includes the Guardian, Herald, Independent, Telegraph, Times and more. Click on the News button on the toolbar at the top of the screen to start your search.

ProQuest Newsstand provides information from more than 280 of the world's top newspapers and trade journals from 1977.

Many newspapapers are also available online from the publisher's website, most with an archive. You may need to register.

Dundee City Libraries The Central Library takes several local and national newspapers. Electronic newspapers tend not to include photographs and other graphical information, so it may be necessary to consult the originals. Local newspapers are kept permanently.

National Library of Scotland The National Library in Edinburgh has extensive print newspaper collections. Students wishing to consult any of these should check information on using the library.

Images and multimedia

Many images and other multimedia on the internet are protected by copyright. This means that you cannot just download and use them in a poster or presentation without checking for any restrictions. If you have any questions about copyright, please contact your Academic Librarian. There are some useful online tutorials which will help you understand more about copyright and how to find and use images legally. Copyright User is also a useful online resource aimed at informing everyone who uses copyright about how to protect their work, how to license and exploit it, and how to legally re-use the work of others.

Audio Visual Equipment

A range of audiovisual equipment including microphones, cameras, DVD recorders, graphic pens and other items are available to borrow from the Library. These items must be booked 24 hours in advance and are collected and returned to the Support Enquiry Zone. To find out more about the equipment and make a booking have a look at the Audio Visual page.

DVD Collection

The Library has a collection of DVDs on Level 2. You can search for these on LibrarySearch. They can be borrowed for 1 day Monday to Thursday and, at the weekend, from Friday to Monday. There is no charge for borrowing a DVD, but there is a £2.00 fine per day if it is returned late. All DVDs can be renewed up to 4 times provided there are no outstanding holds on any of the items.
