Supporting your studies

library shelves

Your lecturers will expect you to read and use other people's ideas to inform your learning. The library provides all students with access to subscription databases which are sources of good quality, credible information such as scholarly articles. These databases are not usually freely available to the public. Using the databases, rather than Google, can also help you avoid wasting time sorting through the advertisements and low quality information that lurks on the web.

Find out more about key resources for your subject from our subject guides. Alternatively, you can search for books, articles and more in one simple search using our LibrarySearch tool.

During your time at Abertay, workshops with the Academic Librarian or IT Trainer should be included in your timetable. Try to attend these sessions as they will help you find, manage, use, reference and present ideas and information in your coursework.

If you haven't been to a workshop, don't worry - there are lots of ways to get help and assistance if you need it.
