Laptop loans

Locker Loans:

The Library has laptops available for use in the Library. These can be borrowed from the self-service laptop cabinets on Level 2 of the Library, for a maximum of 4 hours. You must have your student or staff card to use the laptop lockers.

Weekly loans:

The library also has laptops available for student loan on a weekly loan basis.

  • To place a booking on a laptop go to  and search for 'laptop' from the General Equipment category

  • Collect and return your laptop at the Support Enquiry Zone (SEZ).

  • You will be required to agree to the online terms and conditions or asked to sign a declaration form prior to borrowing a laptop, as you will be responsible for any loss or damage incurred whilst it is in your charge.

  • Laptops can be used on the University's wi-fi network on campus. 

  • Off Campus you should ensure that you save your work frequently somewhere other than on the laptop, as the C drive is cleared whenever the laptop is rebooted.

Audio Visual equipment

Audio Visual equipment can be borrowed from the Support Enquiry Zone (SEZ).

Most loans are for one week and are available to staff and students. Some items are only available for a staff loan, others are for authorised groups only.

The collection includes digital cameras, laptops, dictaphones, video cameras, mobile phones and equipment for use in Whitespace and the recording studio. A full list of equipment can be seen at

  • Fines will be charged on overdue AV equipment loans at a rate of £1.00 per day.

  • Failure to return an item will result in you being suspended from borrowing other equipment

  • Users are liable for the replacement cost of any item that is lost or damaged whilst issued to them.
